For Items that are stored in both eaches and case, box or other larger UOMs in the warehouse but have the same item number in Sage directed picking can be utilized to pick larger UOM by following the setup options outlined below.
Multi-Bin Setup Option 1:
- Items that are in eaches should be stored in the pick area location types
- Segregate other UOM's such as case and box quantities to overflow location types
- In bin location maintenance set the location type to Overflow for all bin locations where box/case quantities are stored.
- In Multi-bin Company Options, turn on setting to jump to overflow for large orders, case packs and pallets (see below).
- On the item set the minimum quantity necessary before the system would direct you to an overflow location. ie: an item comes in a case quantity of 50 and you store case quantities in the overflow location. Therefore, you would set the Minimum quantity picks value to '50' so directed picking would allocate from the overflow locations instead of going to the pick locations where eaches are stored.
Option 1 Example:
Sales Order is created with a quantity for item 6655: 50 Bin A11
Bin O11
Item 6655
|
Directed Picking Allocation Result: picker is directed to pick all 50 of item 6655 from Bin O11.
Summary: In option 1 with the minimum to jump to overflow that all picking is shifted to overflow. |
Multi-Bin Setup Option 2:
- Items that are in eaches should be stored in the pick area location types.
- Segregate larger UOM's such as case and box quantities to overflow location types.
- In bin location maintenance set the location type to Overflow for all bin locations where box/case quantities are stored.
- In Multi-bin Company Options, turn on setting to jump to overflow for large orders, case packs and pallets (see below).
- On the item set the increment Qty/Case Size (see below).
Option 2 Example:
Sales Order is created with a quantity for item 6655: 50 Bin A11
Bin O11
Item 6655
|
Directed Picking Allocation Result: picker is directed to pick increment. Bin O11: 48 Bin A11: 2
Summary: In option 2 the picker is directed to the overflow location for each increment quantity and returns to the picking area or regular pick flow when there is more than a fraction. |
