Scanco’s Confirm Picking, Wave Picking, and Order Picking applications can leverage the Scanco Multi bin "Print Sort codes" to create unique routes through the warehouse including allowing for certain bins to be skipped.
To the right is an example of a warehouse that is numbered for the “snake through” route. If your warehouse is number in this fashion you might not need sort codes unless you have your bins numbered 1A for the bottom bin, 1B for middle bin and 1C for top bin. In that case you can enter sort codes for the bottom bin only to direct the user to lower bins only. When setting up sort codes you will need to pad the number with zeros. Example: If you have more than 999 bins but less than 10,000 bins, your first sort code will be 0001. This will allow for up to 9999 sort codes. |

Typical Warehouse setup where Row A is on the left of the first aisle and row B is on the right.Row A Bin 1 would need a sort code of 0001 Row B Bin 1 would need a sort code of 0002 so the user does not have to go back down that row. Row C Bin 1 would need a sort code of 0021 so the user will start. |
Example 1: If your warehouse rows are set up with the low numbers in the front to higher numbers in the back you will want to use sort codes to create a “snake through” route. |

Example 2: To allow for skipping of certain bins but also allow for future modifications of the routes to include all bins you will create your sort codes like shown on the right. The bins that do not have sort codes would be skipped, and yet you could include them by adding the sort code later. |
BIN - Sort Code setup. Below you can see bin A2 does not have a Sort code and that bin would be skipped during the directed collection process. | |||
