- Install MXConnect from Google Play Store
- Install DataMan Quick Setup
- Update Scanner to firmware 5.5.4_sr3_tp2 in the DataMan Setup app.
- To do this, you need to go to "Device Settings" in the DataMan Quick Setup app with the Cognex scanner attached.
- Under Device Settings, click "Firmware update", and then scroll down to "Unreleased Firmware", and select "5.5.4_sr3_tp2" and install.
- Reset Scanner to factory defaults
- Cognex Data Codes -> first one on page 6
- Install Warehouse100 latest version from the Scanco Portal.
If you want the scanner to never sleep, that option will need to be re-enabled after the factory reset, and no other system barcodes should be scanned. The factory reset will set it in place with everything it needs, as our app has the newest SDK implemented.
We have added a Settings page to configure Cognex scanners on android using the new SDK v2.0 from Cognex. To activate, touch the battery icon for the scanner (not the pistol grip battery if present)

How do I change between iOS Mode and Android Mode?
To put your MX-1000 into Android or iOS Mode, you scan either the “Android” or “iOS” reader programming code. These codes are available on the MX-1000 Quick Setup Sheet
Can I configure the MX-1000 to act as a keyboard input?
To put your MX-1000 into Keyboard Mode, first scan the Android mode or iOS mode reader programming code followed by the “Keyboard Input Enable” code. These codes are available on the MX-1000 Quick Setup Sheet
What is the difference between an MX-1000 and MX-1000X?
The MX-1000X has different algorithms to read DPM (Direct Part Mark) codes and it also can read Postal Code symbologies. Specifically, MX-1000X has the following additional feature keys : “2D Extended” and “Postal Code.”

How do I enable/disable symbologies?
You can Enable/Disable symbologies in Quick Setup App under Device Settings>Enable Symbologies where you can select/deselect the symbologies you’d like to use. You can also change these settings in the DataMan PC Setup Tool or by using Reader Programming Code found in the Reader Configuration Codes document. Additionally, an app can programmatically make these changes by sending DMCC commands.
How can I change the reader timeout so the engine doesn’t turn off?
You can change the reader inactivity timeout in Quick Setup App under Device Settings>Inactivity Timeout where you can select the length of the timeout. You can also change these settings in the DataMan PC Setup Tool
How do I connect to DataMan PC Setup Tool application?
There are 2 ways to connect an MX-1000 to the DataMan PC Setup Tool. The first is to use Proxy mode by connecting the MX-1000 to the same WiFi network as the PC and then running the Quick Setup App on the mobile device. This method is described in the “MX-1000 User Guide.” The second way is to use the MX USB Programming cable (DMA-MXPROGCABLE-00) which connects the MX1000 to a USB port on the PC. You must disassemble and remove the phone in order to use this method. Please make sure to scan the Android mode Reader Programming Code in order for the PC to discover the USB device or scan Reset To Factory Defaults Reader Programming Code.

Does the MX-1000 charging cradle charge the phone?
o YES, but the MX-1000 batteries and the phone's battery in a certain order. The charge and discharge scheme is explained in the “MX-1000 User Guide.”

How do I turn on the MX-1000?
There's no on/off power button on the MX-1000. Simply press a trigger button to turn the engine on. To turn the mobile device on, use the power button for the mobile device. You must power on the mobile device and MX-1000 separately.
How do I turn off the MX-1000?
There's a user settable timeout which the engine will turn off after that amount of inactivity has passed. There is no off button. To turn off the mobile device, use the power button for the mobile device. You must power off the mobile device and MX-1000 separately.
Can I programmatically turn off the engine from within my app?
No
